TAMIL NEW YEAR CELEBRATION – 2024

On April 14th, the Tamil New Year celebration marked the final event of the academic year before the summer break, providing a festive and memorable conclusion to the school year.

The children, dressed in vibrant, new traditional attire, celebrated the day with great enthusiasm and exchanged heartfelt wishes. Under the guidance of Ms Shakunthala, the children began preparations for the pooja by decorating with mango leaves, flowers and arranging prasadam as part of the tradition. The ceremony commenced with the recitation of Ashtothram, followed by bhajans, during which the little ones actively participated and thoroughly enjoyed the spiritual activities.

On the same day, a heartfelt farewell was held for the X standard students. They showcased their talents through group dances, songs, and piano performances. They were joined by the junior students. The performances were a delightful blend of entertainment and skill, highlighting the talents of both senior and junior children.

Awards for excellence and exemplary performance were also presented during the celebration. Certificates and gifts were distributed by class, with a senior girl highlighting the qualities of each awardee. The children enjoyed guessing the awardees based on these descriptions, adding an element of surprise and excitement to the event. The awards were handed out by Kathai teacher, who also enriched the occasion by sharing an inspiring spiritual story about Lord Vishnu.

Maya Amma, Chitra Akka, and the staff were actively involved in the pooja. Maya Amma explained the importance of the Tamil New Year festival to the children, adding a meaningful educational component to the celebration. The event was completed with the serving of special festive food, which further enhanced the festive atmosphere. Overall, the celebration was a perfect blend of tradition, talent, and joy, providing a memorable conclusion to the academic year and leaving the children with cherished memories as they headed into the summer break.
