I want to share with you one of the most amazing and memorable experiences with the students for the first time after I joined Satyamurthi School, which was only very recent.  It was the day when I accompanied a group of wonderful students from the Bala Mandir Satyamurthi School to the Boeing Family Day Event in Sheraton Grand Hotel, OMR.

When I heard that our school was invited to participate in the Boeing Family Day Event, a corporate event by the aerospace giant, I was thrilled and excited. One of the challenges we faced while preparing for the event was to decide what programme to present to the audience. We also wanted to choose a programme that would suit the occasion and the theme of the event and we were given 30 minutes time for the overall presentation. So we needed to present something short but intense.

After much deliberation and discussion, we decided to go with the English skit and the dance performance that were presented in the Annual Day programme this year. These two programmes were a good hit among the students, the staff, and the parents, and we thought they would be appropriate for the Boeing Family Day Event as well. The English skit showcased the holistic education system provided by Satyamurthi School, depicting how the school offers various subjects, activities, and resources to cater to the students’ diverse interests and needs.

However, we also had to make some modifications to the original programmes to suit the Boeing Family Day Event. We tweaked the script of the English skit to include and showcase Boeing’s part in our school education system, especially the Vikalpa Lab, a science innovation lab run by the Boeing team in our school. We also changed some of the steps and costumes of the dance performance to match the mood and the audience at the event. We rehearsed the revised programmes several times with the students, and made sure they were comfortable and confident with the changes.

The event was held on November 4th, 2023. We were well planned and ready but then an obstacle that came upon us was the rain holiday of the schools. We needed to call the respective team of teachers and gather the students despite the rain, and we managed to do it efficiently. We, the team of four staff and fifteen students started for the event in a bus and reached the venue safely in the afternoon. The students were going to perform in front of a large audience of Boeing employees and their families. The weather was not very cooperative that day and it was an outdoor event. There was a cloudburst, just before the performance, and it rained intensely although a marquee was set up for the stage. We rushed the students from the rooms with umbrellas and reached the performance point half-wet. But the students did not let anything dampen their spirits. They were cheerful, enthusiastic, and confident.

When it was time for their performance, I was nervous and anxious for them. I wondered how they would cope with the pressure and the expectations. I wondered how they would handle the stage and the audience. I wondered how they would express themselves in a language that was not their mother tongue. But as soon as they stepped on the stage, all my worries vanished. They performed with such grace, energy, and skill, that I was speechless. They captivated everyone with their wit, and creativity in the skit and were able to adjust and place themselves on such a big stage without any stage rehearsals. The Boeing team and the audience were equally impressed and amazed by the students’ performance. They applauded them loudly and gave them very positive and encouraging feedback. They also thanked them for making their day more enjoyable and meaningful. The students were overjoyed and proud of themselves.  The Boeing Family Day Event was a memorable and enriching experience for me and the students of Bala Mandir Satyamurthi School. It was a day when we learned a lot, had a lot of fun, and made a lot of friends. It was a day when we saw the students shine in their own unique way. It was a day when we realised that they have the talent, confidence, and courage to overcome any obstacle and achieve any goal. It was a day when we felt proud and happy.

Janani, your report reinforces the fact that children are talented and the schools have to create opportunities to bring our their talents.
